Erica X Eisen is a writer, editor, and journalist. She received her bachelor's degree in History of Art & Architecture from Harvard University with a focus on Japanese art and her MA in Buddhist Art History & Conservation from The Courtauld Institute of Art. Her work frequently focuses on the intersection of the arts and broader political or social themes. She is an editor at Hypocrite Reader and The Public Domain Review and was formerly an online editor at Asymptote. She is currently working on her first novel and is represented by Rebecca Carter of Rebecca Carter Literary.
Awards for her writing include selection as a Best American Essays Notable Essay and Special Mention in the 2020 Pushcart Prize anthology. An additional three of her short stories have been nominated for the Pushcart Prize. She was twice awarded the Cyrilly Abels Award for best short story by a female undergraduate at Harvard. In 2015, she won the Short Story of the Year Award at Buffalo Almanack. She is also the recipient of the Harvard-UK Fellowship and the Dumbarton Oaks Humanities Fellowship.
